Glory Music theory prepares students to sit for the trinity Music Theory Exam after one academic year. Students have the opportunity to study with an experienced music theory instructor with extensive experience in teaching music theory at the collegiate level.
Glory Music Theory serves as an introduction to college-level music fundamentals, musicianship (sight singing, listening, dictation, and transcription), harmony, musical analysis, and composition. Trinity Music Theory prepares students with a broad base of knowledge and skills that are essential for performance and composition in many musical genres, including classical, jazz, and popular music.
This 32-week course is designed for students to participate remotely and asynchronously. Each week, students will complete a prerecorded lesson, a reading assignment, and theory/musicianship assignments. This work can be completed at any time during the week. Students have regular interaction with the instructor through messaging and video chat.
Students will also participate in a monthly live session via Zoom. View a listing of the live session dates/times at the bottom of this page.
This course uses an online classroom and music-theory software. Students are also given access to College-Board approved review materials on the GloryMusic Classroom website. All software fees are included with tuition. The required textbook is , which students should purchase prior to the first session.
This course has been authorized by the College Board. Students who complete the course can earn college credit, based on trinity Exam performance. Students who wish to earn high school credit in addition may request independent study credit, with the approval of their high school counselor. Students who are not able to take the exam at Glory’s all over iNdia Captal location are responsible for finding a local testing site.
Please note: Students must have access to a laptop or desktop computer with a microphone. Students must have the ability to read and write standard musical notation. Basic musical performance skills are also recommended.
Honors: Accelerated Music Theory

This class introduces high-school age musicians to the fundamentals of music theory and musicianship in an accelerated format. Students develop skills and knowledge in rhythm, reading notes on the staff, scales, key signatures, intervals, chords, and musical signs and terms.
Classes designated Honors are enrichment options suitable for students who participate in Glory’s merit programs or the India Musical Pathways Initiative.
Students who have not taken a music theory class at Glory should take an online placement test prior to registering for the class.
Please note: this is a hybrid class that can be joined either in person or via Zoom.
Honors: Composition Lab
AGES 14 – 18 · GROUP CLASS ·
The Music Theory and Composition Lab will include a review of practical music theory, ear training, and musicianship skills. Students will develop composition skills such as basic harmony and counterpoint, improvisation, writing for instruments, using music notation software (Noteflight), and using music production software (Soundtrap).
Students will complete assignments and projects in our online classroom which includes music theory, music notation, and music production software. Students will create a final composition project, which will be performed by students and Levine faculty members.
Honors: Transforming Music Lab

This class will study some of the premier music ensembles of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries to understand their approach to musicianship, to creativity in music, to the interpretation and arrangement of new and old repertoire, and finally to understand the larger cultural and artistic implications of these groups.
We’ll discover, through close readings of work by transformative ensembles, how to engage with contemporary trends in music. Students in the class will form an ensemble, and all students will be expected to provide weekly arrangements of a variety of music of different genres and styles for this group.
